Niligiri Palace, Balasore, Orissa

Nilagiri State was a Princely States of India during the British Rule. It belonged to the Orissa States Agency and its capital was at Raj Nilgiri. In 1949 it was merged into Balasore District.The name of Narayan Singh Bhujang Mandhata Birat Basant Harichandan (1521-1564) is associated with this dynasty. During the reign of Kishor Chandra Mardraj Harichandan, the merging of the Princely States took place on 1st January 1948. The palace is dwelled by the descendents of the family, Jayant Chandra Mardraj Harichandan being the present Head of the family. A Jagannath temple and a Raghunath Jiu temple is present next to the palace.
