Manohor Pukur Kali Bari
The Decoit Manohar Bagdi built the Manoharpukur Kalibari. It is reported that at the time, human sacrifices were a common practice. Contrary to other Kaali idols where gold jewelry is typical, this idol would be dressed with a genuine human head and a garland of skeletons (thus the name Konkalmalini). The original temple was destroyed and the present temple was constructed nearby in 1891. It is located on Purna Das road, earlier called as Manohar pukur road. This locality was a dense Hogla forest infested by wild animals and Manohar attacked pilgrims on their way to Kalighat by the Adi Ganga route. The present temple was built by Kamakha Charan Mukhopadhyay, a sadhu, in the last decade of the nineteenth century. The Goddess appeared in his dreams and he discovered the idol from a pond nearby. There is a Shiva Lingam outside the temple. Human sacrifice was performed; which was later replaced by animal sacrifice, this practice has now stopped. After the death of Manohar, his adopted son Haradhan worshipped the Goddess. Perhaps the association with dacoits creates a creeping feeling as one enters the peaceful premise.
